Smaller Works (also MFA era)
A Wrinkle in Time, oil on canvas, 24"x24", 2006
A mix of realism (the knotted form) within an abstract shape...set against a strange tornadic landscape.
Portal 39, oil on panel, 18"x22", 2006 (sold)
This painting involved making a "portal" from paper and wire, then photographing it (see the smaller photographic transfer in the background)
Certain Tempations, oil on panel, 14"x10", 2006 (sold)
This smaller piece also used shellac in the foundation layers (the amber color) with acrylic and oil to finish the surreal landscape. I was using flower and mushroom forms to invoke some natural mystery.
Dynamic Event, acrylic on panel, 4"x6", 2006 (sold)
This is a very small piece, using an acrylic image transfer (the flower form) against acrylic on panel. The flower, a common motif, is a foxglove. I've used it in several pieces due to its strange, threatening spots.
Threat, acrylic and shellac on panel, 20" x 26", 2006 (sold)
One of my favorite smaller works! I used numerous layers and techniques similar to frottage to develop a strange, warm atmosphere. The forms in the bottom were derived from naval mines, but alas, they are also COVID....?
Strange Assembly, oil and shellac on panel, 14" x 18", 2006 (sold)
This painting was inspired by architecture (see the right side of the painting). It is a view of the pantheon, with the blue sky clearly seen through its dome.
Listening for my lover, acrylic on panel, 6" x 7", 2006 (sold)
This very small painting uses my familiar flower form to create a layering of organic shapes that allude to the sensation of hearing a whisper.
Explaining Pics to a Bot, acrylic on panel, 4"x5", 2006 (sold)
Another very small piece, using an acrylic image transfer (the flower form) against acrylic on panel. The gray form was painted from life: an eraser molded into a whimsical rodent.
